My Work Life

Sometimes I visit here to reminisce about my past work life. Why not? I was a good leader working with diverse cross-functional teams. At one point I was called a “politician” as it seemed I played to all sides but that’s key to team building and getting things done.

Apartment Services, Inc., Baltimore, MD 1999 – 2019, 20 yrs.

IT Project Manager

  • Competitively bid all the computer hardware and services for data storage, wide area networks, telecom systems, web site expansion and disaster recovery projects.
  • Manage IT outsourcing for the corporate office with 50+ end users. In addition there were 30+ remote leasing centers with another 100 or so users that required constant attention.
  • Sourced a new software platform for the collection department responsible for collecting unpaid rent. I personally inspired and trained the collection agents on new procedures, and immediately gained a 40% increase in monthly revenue; proving the value of this investment. In fact, it was so successful after the first year the collection department was closed. One person can now manage all the collection duties instead of three. Go me!
